An important message to a couple that desires marriage (part one)

Monday, May 6, 2013

For a couple to get married there must be mutual love for each other. It shouldn’t be one party being interested and the other as if just helping. To exemplify this, allow me take you through a story of an introduction ceremony in a rich man’s home, to show you how the bride helped her boy friend get over.

James and Jane mate each other at church. They saw each other for about a year and a half. One day James suggested to Jane about marriage, but Jane didn’t accept the suggestion because she thought in her mind that some one to marry her was meant to come from a rich family as well and was to possess a recognizable profession like being a Doctor, Lawyer, or an Engineer.

On several occasions those who were close to Jane had seen her trying to get closer to men of such professions unfortunately her desire didn’t come to pass. Over time she told those close to her that she wanted to get married. She had a good job to do and earned a fair income. She wanted independence and because she had the means, she left her parents home and went for a rental.

She filled her house with so many goodies and it really looked nice. This all she did but her joy still didn’t come. I personally heard her speak that she usually bought food in her house but failed to cook and eat it because she had no body to cook it for or to enjoy it with.

After several disappointments from those who somehow showed interest in her, she one day went back and talked to James that she was available if he still needed her. James had loved her deeply in heart. He told her that he would answer her in a short while. Yes, he did this and the results were positive.
James was not from a rich family, not even a middle class family but a very humble poor home. The good news about him was that he had attended school through struggle and got a degree in Education. He had tried teaching but the school where he started teaching from had disappointed him. He was given a little pay and many a time he wasn’t paid on time. He however, got another job with another company where from then to today he earns a good pay.

Preparations were made to go visit Jane’s aunt who was meant to take the news to Jane’s father and family that she had found a man to marry her. They did this and sent a letter to the father who also accepted to host them some day at his home.

As I put it earlier, the man is a rich one. He built a big country home! You may call it a mansion if you know one. The compound only, can host three big functions at the same time.

While preparing to receive his visitors, the father informed his friends and relatives about it. They made a budget for the function which went to about Uganda shillings 25 millions. The friends and relatives contributed this money without any stress.

Going to such a home to be introduced meant a lot. James was meant to take something presentable for bride price. Jane having known the size of the function, she went and talked to James about it. They sat together to see what was fitting for presentation in addition to those things the parents had asked from James. James used his money and that from friends and relatives to buy what was needed but it was insufficient. Jane came in to give a hand. She put in her money to help James. They really bought things!!

Their preparations were timely and by the day of introduction every item was in place. I personally was given the responsibility to drive these things to the place where we set off to go for the function. We were only disappointed by the florist who didn’t organize the flower in the right time, so we left for the function 30 minutes late.
When we reached, wow! It was marvelous. The function was so big and very colorful. People were smart. People from all walks of life were there including bishops, church pastors, army generals, politicians, royal chiefs, business men and many others. We were allowed in to proceed with the function. We ate from the time we entered up to when we left.

Beautiful music was played and powerful gospel and local music artists attended the function. We enjoyed a lot of drama which made the occasion very colorful.
After the aunt showing the whole gathering who the man (bride groom) was, the bride (Jane) also came. The couple moved around following the music tunes to show to show themselves to the people.
Please the second part of the occasion, it is coming!!
