Consider the education of your wife. Properly educated women make lovely homes.

I have read the statement that when you educate a woman you have educated a nation. I have also come to prove it that women are as bright as men. In fact so many women are much brighter than men. I don’t know what your experience has been, but I think you have seen some girl/lady along the way of life who has exhibited great abilities in different areas of life.

I have seen women participate in leadership positions from local to international levels. They have penetrated the medical line as nurses, doctors, and pharmacists. In law they have made very good lawyers and magistrates. In education they have made wonderful teachers from kindergarten level to lecturers in colleges and Universities. In sports, women are there, they ride bicycles and motorbikes, they drive in motor races, and they play volley ball, netball, and basket ball, they run short and long races. In these ways and many others women display great abilities. They have won medals.

Education provides us with information suitable for correct living. Through education, man’s ignorance is swept away. Education opens to us doors of opportunities. With education communication is made easy at local, national and international levels. Education is the most important single key factor to family, community, national and international development. Many women are farmers, who need training so that they do the farming from an informed point of view. The farm/garden yields are much better when one applies the best practices.

Imagine a home with a woman who doesn’t know the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene. Do you realize the effect of that on the lives of those in her house? Do you desire that kind to be your wife or mother? Then educate them.

To bring up children appropriately, mothers need to be informed of what they are doing. Mothers need education on child care and upbringing.  This information they get from schools, seminars, and books.

Child discipline is another area which requires special attention. How it should be done, why and how, women should know. Let women go to school.

The woman you put in your house should be able to advise you. It is a stupid idea to think that a man’s word is final in all matters. I have read about the aspect of interdependence. By putting down our views together in meaningful discussion, we get to very constructive decisions which yield better results. When a woman is not educated, she will feel inferior to the man and may think she has nothing to say.

Husbands / men must remember that we don’t live forever. A time comes and we die. I don’t want to say that the man will die first, but again it is very common that it happens that way. I request you to paint a picture in your imagination on your home when you have died and your estate and children are in the hands of an illiterate woman! Do you see disaster?

I have seen men who live their wives at home when they are going for functions because fear that they will be embarrassed. I heard it from a man’s mouth who was in conversation with his colleague that ‘’this woman has refused to go back to school yet for me I have upgraded myself. Don’t you think I will need another one who will fit my education level?’’ Another man was a church pastor. He married an illiterate woman from a village. The lady knew how to look after her home but was not educated. The pastor underwent several trainings and promotions. Finally he was promoted to the level of a bishop. With that position came more responsibilities but also better opportunities and remuneration.   He had so many travelling opportunities which required the couple but he always left her behind. Do you know the reason? 

She was not educated! Bishops’ wives also had associations which she feared to join because of education.

I have had an experience with less educated women in a church. They feared to utter a word or to engage in serious arguments for lack of language command. They think they will make a mistake in their speech and people will laugh at them. Lack of information generates silence.

Now, I appeal to my reader, to participate in woman empowerment. Women need an education to fit in society and to compete favorably in the world. Knowledge is power!!
